What to expect from your Distance Reiki Session:
Each distance Reiki session includes time for discussion before and after treatment, a guided meditation, reiki energy, and an optional oracle card pull.
You will need to find yourself a comfortable space, preferably free of distractions, where you can fully recline. If you cannot recline for any reason you may have your session seated in a supportive chair. A suitable space to lay down for Reiki may be a yoga mat on the floor or it could be a couch or a bed. If you are on a harder surface such as a mat on the floor, you may wish to place pillows or rolled blankets under your knees for support or a towel, folded blanket, or pillow underneath your head. You may wish to do this on a bed as well. You should remain fully clothed and you may wish to wear an extra layer of socks or a blanket if the room is cold so that you can stay at a comfortable temperature during your session. Since music doesn't play well over zoom, you may want to play your own music. If choosing your own music it should be something you find relaxing. Feel free to keep the lights low or use candlelight, but just like music, it is not necessary. Some people just find the experience more relaxing this way. Typically, the more of a relaxed state you are in, the better the body is able to work on repairing itself and you may find the Reiki to be more beneficial. You are not required to be completely still during the session and are free to move or shift if needed. Your comfort is more important than absolute stillness.
Reiki is a different experience for everyone and each session is unique. Most people will feel a sense of calm or relaxation. Some people may even fall asleep. Others may feel sensations such as warmth or tingling or will see certain colors or images during a session. You may feel light and airy afterwards. It is important to drink plenty of water after receiving reiki. If you do feel a little spacey after your session, try eating some dark chocolate to help re-ground yourself. Feel free to speak up should any discomfort arise during your reiki session and discuss this with your reiki practitioner.
Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medicine and is not proven to treat or cure any medical conditions; but it can be an excellent complimentary therapy in your health or wellness plan. Many people find benefit from receiving reiki alongside more traditional therapies and find the energy to be healing in nature. It can be a powerful tool that can help you find a state of relaxation and has many benefits. If you are experiencing an acute medical problem, please seek out a licensed medical professional.
